Representative Maria Rachel Arenas (Pangasinan-3rd District) visited Gatang Elementary School in Malasiqui, Pangasinan on December 1, 2022. Rep. Arenas graced the school’s culminating event for National Reading Month.

The program started with a prayer followed by the singing of the national anthem. Ms. Melanie Abulencia, the school’s Officer-in-Charge, gave a welcome address. Dr. Neila Ferrer gave the students an inspirational message, encouraging them to develop a habit of reading. Rep. Arenas gave her keynote address explaining her reading advocacy for the students and she gave updates on her work in Congress outlining her agenda for the people of the 3rd district of Pangasinan

Furthermore, teachers selected several students to read from the “big book” - a collection of short children’s stories. Then, an intermission number was held where students participated in various energizers.

The program ended with closing remarks of the Officer-in-Charge to Rep. Arenas and the school’s stakeholders for supporting the culminating activity of the students.
